Local music lovers may have noticed the addition of two Canadians to their midst over the last 18 months. Jaime April and Jason Moon (collectively known as APRIL MOON) have adopted the Northwest as home while playing as both a duo and a four-piece band around the UK and in Europe. The pair have also been busy writing and recording their first full-length album entitled 'The Sun, the Moon and the Truth' which was released July 2014.
Jaime and Jason are originally from a town in northern Saskatchewan where the wheatfields spread out to the south and the boreal forest expands to the north. They met through the theatre world and quickly became friends while jamming at cast parties of shows they acted in. After recording three albums with two different bands and touring Canada and the UK, Jaime and Jason formed APRIL MOON and decided to settle in the Northwest.
Upon moving to Southport (a town Jason fell in love with during his teens), they enlisted bass player Martin "Tino" Keith and drummer Danny Lightfoot to join them onstage. The album 'The Sun, the Moon and the Truth' had been described as "Grateful Dead meets Fleetwood Mac" - a fitting description given its folk-rock-blues style, but the addition of Tino's roots-punk bass lines and former metal drummer Danny's tight grooves to their live set now firmly anchor the arrangements, resulting in a sound that is heavy yet melodic.
